Hi all, Since El Cajon is usually quite warm in August let's plan on meeting at 4:00 p.m. The "hot dogs" will have a better time if it is cooler. Doria and Gidget

Dachshund Picnic Flyer Calling all dachshunds and their humans! Bring your picnic lunch, chairs and/or blanket and enjoy an afternoon at Balboa Park at the Dachshund Picnic. 2nd Chance Dachshund Rescue will have a massage booth set up for humans and dogs alike! Professional masseuses have kindly offered their services to help our rescue raise money for our dogs' medical care. 100% of the donated proceeds go back to the doxies in rescue! We've seen them in action at the Bassett Hound Rescue picnic and they're friendly, caring, and competent!

Changed from Nate's Point to Wells Park because of the lack of separation between large and small dogs. Safety for the little ones has to come first! Lee Anne

We're going to meetup at the El Cajon's Wells Park. This park IS separated (small dog and big dog areas) and cleaner than Harry Griffin. There are fountains for the dogs to get water and plenty of shade. I still would recommend bringing something to sit on. Hope to see you there! Lee Anne

Spring...when the "Swallows Return to Capistrano" and the "Dachshunds Return to Balboa Park!" This is not a centralized picnic at one specific location! (If you want to have a picnic somewhere in the park, that is up to you.) The idea is to get your own Dachshunds out in the park dressed in "60's" Spring attire, enjoy the day, and walk along the Prado in Balboa Park and down to hear the Organ Concert at the Spreckels Organ Pavilion. (Sit in the back area along the steps.) The Spreckels Organ concerts start at 2:00. Bring along a picnic lunch. Enjoy the "EquiDox". Meet lots of other Doxies and their humans. Don't forget your camera.

We've changed this event. We're going to meetup at the new El Cajon dog park. We've had members do some recon for us (thanks Nancy) and we're pretty sure you'll like this venue better than Harry Griffin. Here's the description: "This 1.4 acre spread within El Cajon's Wells Park is the East County's second leashless dog park and is a grassy haven for pooches. And it's been getting rave reviews from East County residents who sometimes traveled far away just to let their dogs run wild. It has gravel and grassy sun areas and dual drinking fountains (for pets and their owners)." This park IS separated (small dog and big dog areas) and cleaner than Harry Griffin. I still would recommend bringing something to sit on. Hope to see you there! Lee Anne
