I say keep it plain and simple. no door prizes or newsletters, this for our dogs not so much for the humans. I think we humans take every event, birthdays, holidays, ect... Point blank let dogs be dogs and let them enjoy themselves

I'm sorry that so many new comers didn't feel welcomed @ the meet up! It's a very long dog park & we usually just walk around ourselves & meet & great to whoever is around. I have sent in a suggestion of maybe making it more group like and doing introductions or activities that allows us to get to know each other better! I hope those of you who came & wasn't happy will try again w/us, b/c we have been coming for a year now, & love it with our doxies! Any input please message/post me on my page!

This was my first meetup. I thought it was great for my 2 boys to interact with everyone else. I think they were a little overwellmed though. I didn't see anyone giving out news letters or greeting people so if you aren't out going it can feel a little uncomfortable. It would have been nice if it was little more organized like there was a designated area that you knew you could go over to & find out info and be introduced to people and introduce yourself. I also would have liked a news letter.

This was my first time going to the meetup. It was dixie myself and my daughter. We all had a great time and looking to another meeting in March. Hopefully it will be warm then. Dixie had a blast and I'm not sure whether it was getting the know the people or the other dogs.

Hi It wa sfun but I did not feel welcome untill about an half hour went by! Then a few people talked to me! It was akward! we will try agin because my little guy enjoyed it much and fell in love with one of the other doxies he did not want to leave her and then she did not like him very much! LOL But As for a news letter or door prizes I have no idea I would have liked a news letter maybe next time!

The directions given by the website took us to chesapeake ave. We were lost for an hour and could not find the park. Too bad! Our poor little doxie ended up puking in the car too.

Seemed to get colder every moment, but I may have been so cold b/c I got there at 1pm & stayed until 3:30! Iris and I were wall flowers as always but enjoyed seeing all the pretty doxies.

Hi Everyone! The meetup is at the Chesapeake small dog park- as usual... for some reason meetup changed the way you select locations and it didn't take- it's fixed now. :-)

We can't wait for the meet up in Feb. Hopefully it will be a lot warmer outside, and I know our lil ones are going to be so excited to see everyone!

Who attended?

  • 42 attendees
    •  This was my first meetup and I thought it was great! Everyone's kids were so beautiful and I was surprised that they all got along so well. Next time hopefully it'll be a little warmer though.
    •  We tried to attend but the directions given on the wesite were not correct. We were so lost and our dog ended up thowing up in the car.
    •  Plenty of Dachshunds and their humans, but I missed the organizer and/or assistant organizers.

The meet was great nothing but little wieners running around having a great time! Daisey really enjoyed it! She was so exhausted that she slept the rest of the day. Daisey and I can not wait for the next meet up.
    •  At the December meet-up, the boston terrier attacked my 12 year old dachshund twice. He was able to fight him off both times. Then the owner of the boston put him in with the big dogs. It is a public park. I don't think that we have a right to tell anyone to leave. We would have to call authorities to do that. My concern is that every time that I go, I am picking up other dachshund owners feces. One of my dogs goes as soon as we get there. I have plastic bags with me. I haven't witnessed anyone picking up after their dogs. It's terrible that we have our dogs running in it and we are walking in it. Also I have no problem with behaved children. How are we going to tell if they are under age. Some are small for their age. Do parents carry ID cards around for their children. I don't know, I don't have any youngsters.
    •  Great time talking to everyone and watching the doxies run, play and have a good time. The weather was colder than anticipated so we only stayed an hour. But we still had a good time.
    •  So great to see so many doxies in one place!! Thank you so much! Michelle Story and "Piper" Cold day but so worth it!
    •  It was a little cooler than we thought it would be. It was good for Gracie, she's working on her social skills. I was surprised on how well she did. I think she will do better with each gathering.
    •  I am guessing on the attendence, after the GPS made us take two hours to get there, I think some folks had left. As always the weiners had a blast, but it was VERY cold. And with no sun that is awful. Not to mention getting kicked out with my kid in a backpack was extremely annoying. But the thing that made it all worth it, Sass-a-Frass, a DRNA rescue, found her forever home, with two beautiful brothers and a couple cats!!!!
    •  Wonderful, the weather wasn.t bad and their were lots of parents with their babies. so cute and adorable every one of them.
    •  What an amazing get together! met some great people and some great dogs!
    •  Please contact me at (757) 438-5718. My doxie was "attacked" by a boston terrier at last Saturday's meet-up and terriorized to the point I don't think I will ever be able to get her comfortable with other dogs. This was a Dachshund meet up....why are other dogs allowed???? I was approached by 2 other people who told me their dogs had previously been attacked by this same boston terrier. I have so much to share but space is limited. This has been a truly horrific experience for her and myself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
