About Boston Dachshund MEET UP

Do you love your wiener?!?! We all do!!

Boston Dachshund MEET UP is a social group for dachshunds and their owners. During the warm months we meet up on Boston Common, and in the winter at an indoor location. Our doxies run, play and socialize, and maybe get into just a little bit of trouble....but it is all in fun! tongue Owners get a chance to swap funny doxie stories and compare notes on raising a dachshund (but mostly we take pictures and laugh at the antics of 50 or so wiener dogs running around). All varieties of dachshund (and owners) welcome, as well as, non-doxie friends and siblings (but must be accompanied by a dachshund, and welcomed by the dachshund pack).

RULES & GUIDELINES FOR THE BOSTON DACHSHUND MEETUP GROUP

*You must live in the greater Massachusetts or New England area
*You must currently own a dachshund, or be looking to get one in the near future
*Your membership is at the discretion of the Organizer(s), and you can be removed from the group at any time
*You are attending events at your own discretion/risk

FOR THE MEETUP EVENTS

*Please know that we want all our dogs and owners to be safe.
Please be sure that your dog is friendly to both other dogs and humans. Dogs must be fully vaccinated; preferably spayed/ neutered (if not, please use good judgement in your dog's behavior). Do not bring your dog if she is in heat!

*Owners must be in full control of their dogs at all times. If your dog gets into a fight with another dog, please keep your dog on leash and by you for the rest of the meetup. Do not let him/her have a chance to start another fight.

*We will have a "3 Strikes and Your Out" Policy

- any dog that is aggressive and starts fights or minorly hurts other dogs 3 times, then this member will be asked to leave the meetup group.

- if a dog seriously hurts another dog, then only one offense will be tolerated and this member will be asked to leave the meetup group.

- let's remember that dogs will be dogs, and sometimes there will be fights. These rules are to weed out repeat offenders and keep everyone's dog safe. I do not want ANYONE to be afraid to bring their dog to a meetup. This is suppose to be a fun thing for all who attend.

*Please do not give out treats to other dogs , many dogs have sensitive stomachs and/or allergies you may not be aware of. Ask the owner first if it's ok for their dog to have a treat.

*Please be prepared and doggy bags for your pet. We often meet in public places and would like to remain welcome.

*To effictively plan successful meetup events please RSVP with a yes or a no to each scheduled meetup. Also, after a meetup, take the survey that is emailed to you. This gives you the opportunity to give feedback on the event and it's location. This will help determine future meetups!

*Any members involved in inappropriate behavior, whether it's in the Message Boards, or at the dog park, can be removed from the group at the discretion of the Organizer(s) . If a dog is out of control during a meetup, the owner and dog can be asked to leave the meetup by the Organizer(s) and could result in being removed from the group. You know your dog's behavior best. Members are always welcome to attend meetups with or without their dogs.
